Manta Mae

Luxury Charter

Manta Mae

Launched in 2014, the Mantamae is a 31-meter Phinisi ironwood schooner. No ordinary luxury yacht, it’s for the spirited few with a song in their heart, a curious mind, and a passion for cruising some of the most extraordinary places on the planet. With its two masts, elegant bowsprit and seven-sail rigging,

The Mantamae evokes the romance of a bygone age, where Bugis and Makassan seafarers plied the shallow waters of the ‘East Indies’ on traditional Phinisi vessels laden with valuable spices.

Asset 1

THE CABINS

The glamorous master suite, two staterooms and bunk cabin have been individually designed by Marco Giovanardi, Mantamae’s Italian owner. Flooded with natural light through windows as well as bathed in the romantic glow of ambient lighting, these private air conditioned retreats feature floors of fossilized wood, coral and shell mosaic panels, and statement Indonesian artefacts.

The sublime ensuite bathrooms are lined with labradorite cabochon from Madagascar, and have vanity basin, WC and rainshower. Among the luxuries in each cabin are TV with individual entertainment system, ample storage space, safety box, and top-range beds dressed in finest Egyptian cotton.

WATERSPORTS

As diving doesn’t appeal to everyone, Mantamae has a variety of water toys for those who prefer to keep above water! Slice through the sea in our sleek kayaks, or raise your adrenalin levels on a wakeboarding. Water-skiing and wakeboarding are also popular pursuits, particularly in calm lagoon waters, and snorkelling is a breeze when you’ve a sea scooter to propel you through the crystal-clear waters. Outside protected marine parks, guests may like to fish.

Underwater scooter

Hover above colorful reef fish, corals, green sea turtles and other marine life while effortlessly riding on your very own self-propelled, eco-friendly electric scooter. Since no snorkeling, diving or SCUBA experience is needed, this is perfect for all levels of aquatic proficiency.

Kayaking

Beginners, experts, and those in between are sure to enjoy sea kayaking in Indonesia’s rich ocean waters. You’ll feel like an adventurer as you leave the gentle waters of the bay for the majesty of the open ocean, basking in the sea breeze on your skin. Below, the clear water provides a brilliantly colorful, natural aquarium with table coral and tropical fish. On land, enjoy many different views, from beautiful sandy beaches to rugged shorelines.

Stand Up Paddles

Pure bliss on the ocean with stand up paddle. Enjoying crystal clear shallow waters. Relax, fun and a great way to do some exercise! It makes everybody happy since it’s accessible everybody even without any experience.

Water skiing

Water skiing provides amazing thrills and spills as well as a welcome sense of achievement when all goes right. Being towed at high speed behind a boat may not sound like everyone’s cup of tea but those who have given it a go – young and old, male or female – always come back with a buzz of adrenaline and a desire for more.

EXPERIENCE

DIVING

Indonesia’s eastern archipelago is renowned for its spectacular marine bio-diversity, and the most sought-after, species-rich dive spots on the planet. Mantamae is fully equipped for scuba diving, with dedicated RIB dive tenders, compressors, Nitrox, tanks, and a full set of gear for each guest – wetsuit, BCD, fins, mask, snorkel, weight belt. Our Cruise Director knows the waters intimately and takes pleasure in guiding guests to his favourite, little known or newly discovered sites. A highly experienced dive instructor, he leads divers of all levels from beginners to advanced, and can also arrange PADI instruction and certification if required.

He will organize the diving operations in groups of up to five divers per guide, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that our guests experience the best possible dive. Before each dive he’ll give a full briefing covering dive type, suggested depths and likely marine life along with other relevant site information. Every day, we will offer as many dives as is safely possible within standard no-decompression limits – typically one or two morning dives, an afternoon dive and a dive at dusk or night.
